From local favorites to must-try spots, these ice cream shops offer something for every taste. Here’s where you can find the best scoops in Guimarães, Portugal!
1. Nut’Guimarães
Nut’Guimarães is a delightful spot for ice cream lovers. Known for its variety of flavors and delicious crepes, this place offers a cozy atmosphere with outdoor seating. Don’t miss their Nutella-based desserts and refreshing lemonade.
We came here after a visit to Penha Mountain since it was really close to our hotel, Casa do Juncal! Remy loved the bubble tea drink he got as it was refreshing and the popping bubbles were a fun surprise! Lily opted for the classic chocolate cone and my husband got a Nutella and cookie milkshake. Talk about sweetness overload!
I liked that Nut’Guimarães has unique items, such as sweet tacos and pancake sandwiches, complete with a generous spread of Nutella.
2. Boutique do Gelado
Boutique do Gelado is a paradise for gelato lovers. This charming ice cream parlor offers an impressive array of flavors, from classic favorites to unique creations. Their menu includes vegan options, ensuring there’s something for everyone. The vibrant decor and friendly staff create a welcoming atmosphere, making it a perfect spot to indulge in a sweet treat. Don’t miss their seasonal specials and refreshing sorbets!
We visited Boutique do Gelado before catching our train back to Porto and it was the perfect way to end our Guimarães visit. We got a mango/pineapple sorbet and a Nutella/chocolate milkshake, which were so delicious!
Boutique do Gelado also offers crepes and waffles with a variety of toppings. There were also vegan options and takeaway containers in case you wanted to enjoy their gelado at home.
3. Sabores Café
Sabores Café rounds out the three ice cream spots within a few steps of each other in R. Rainha Dona Maria II. There is a cute window from which you can order and is always busy! The menu was quite extensive and the outdoor seating was in the shade, which is great for a hot day!
This cafe is also a small restaurant and serves sandwiches and other small bites!
4. Sabores Gelados
Sabores Gelados is another popular ice cream spot in Guimarães, known for its wide variety of flavors and good location! We passed by this ice cream place many times and it was always crowded! It’s in a great location for a quick rest in between historic city center and Penha Mountain.
5. Geladão
Our last ice cream place is a little further away from the historic city center – about an 8-minute walk from the historic city center. Thus, it’s not as crowded as the other top ice cream spots. But it is still close to the Guimarães shopping mall. Geladão has a “maxicone” on the menu, which includes 3 scoops of ice cream and strawberry or chocolate ice cream for <€5!
